The guy at 0:40-0:42 is "Tommy Vercetti". Looks like an older day version of him.

To be honest I put GTA4 on for a while last night and laughed my balls off, a lot more fun than I recall it being.

A 20 year older Vercetti is a good thing though, I like Italian/Mafia type GTAs, much better than others, I look forward to hearing what hes been doing since Scarfa....Vice City Smile

GTA4 is class, I love it. Didn't seem to get as much attention as other GTAs, don't really know why.

"One morning I came to and realised I was urinating on my wife...."

The jokes are pretty well hidden in the game, you need to pay attention to hear em!

Vladovostok Radio is win.

with hopefully less stupid RPG-esque elements

I didn't particularly care much for GTA4 -pre-ordered it and was amazed by it when first played it but after a while I came to notice the missions were all too similar, and it lacked the fun, over the top style of previous GTAs. I know people will argue that the realism was the next step forward for GTA but I don't think that's what it is about - GTA has always been about crazy fun. Will have another go at GTA4 in the near future and see if it can win me over again.

I see what you mean, there is a lot less arsing-about-value in GTA4 I think, its more a game to follow the missions and work your way through it, VC and III were always the best ones for dicking around, I could go a full month worth of game time in those games and still not do a single mission because I was dicking around so much.

It's times like this when I completely regret selling my PS2. Only ever got about half way through San Andreas. Seriously considering getting it through Steam, only 9.99

9.99 is a pure bargain. Plus SA is so much better on pc than consoles - more customization etc. I got it, vc and gta3 for under 20quid

Ah well, whatever way you have GTA, they are epic fun on PC - especially with tons of mods available etc. It's great for just messing around in too, as Alan noted earlier, especially San Andreas

Some of this may or may not be true. But even if half of it is true, sounds incredible.

1: The game world is absolutely massive and will push both xbox and PS3 to the very limit in terms of what it has accomplished. Yes, the main city is simply Los Santos however is it AT LEAST 4 times bigger than Liberty City in GTA 4 and that is just Los Santos. The surrounding country side, beaches, etc are massive. For instance, we saw the main character ( an African/American, early 30's) travel by car from the center of Los Santos into the wildnerness and it took over 15 minutes. The views were incredible from farmhouses with cattle, huge wind farms, an oil refinery which appeared to be living and breathing with nearly 100 NPCs working on machinery, operating vehicles, lifting and loaded, etc, unlike the gas works in GTA 4 which seemed to only house a few NPC at a time. The forests are more beautiful than those in RDR and featured people camping, young NPC drinking and dancing around campfires, people riding dirt bikes and jumping over logs, streams, etc. The water effects, forna, plants, trees all looked beautiful.

2: The shooting mechanics have been greatly improved with animations for diving, climbing, rolling and crawling all added for better realism. The re-loading animations for new ammo also look cooler, less static.

3: There is much more climbable elements in the world such as ladders, overhand climbing, etc.

4: There are animals in the game from dogs to cattle but at this time it is not confirmed if you will be able to harm the animals. Rockstar were able to get away with it in RDR as it was a true depiction of the world in which the game was set. Allowing dogs/cattle to die in a game sent in current times may cause headaches with PETA. Its unclear if Rockstar were joking here.

5: There are planes to pilot and they can be crashed into buildings if you choose to do so....

6: Rockstar have included many, many more interior locations such as a shopping mall, college campus, police station, a huge hospital and there is also a vast underground sewer network which one mission later in the game involves a jet ski chase that culminates in a Fugitive-esque waterfall jump ( there are nods to the ridiculous but awesome Ballad Of Gay Tony missions)

7: The city is full of NPCs jogging, weight-lifting, hitting on women, being chased on foot by cops, shopping, washing cars, fixing fences, moving home, filling up their cars, etc.

REAL JUICY INFO:

1: Cars can be upgraded/repaired and it has been considered to have a car have fuel forcing the player to fill her up.

2: The dating aspect of the game is gone. You still have a cell-phone but only people you will meet in the game will call you to ask you to do a mission or to ask you to do something else before the mission.

3: Weapons include the usual arsenal you'd aspect but the flamethrowers, remote mines, laxer trip mines and claymores are included. It is possible now to pick up random objects in a street/buidling to use as a weapon. There is also a museam where it is possible to steal old age swords, axes, etc.

4: it is possible to rupture a fuel line and if you shot at the trail of gasoline it will lead straight back to the car blowing it up.

5: mini games such as bowling, darts, etc have all gone. You can play basketball, weight train, arm wrestle, gamble and cage fight, enter triatholons, water races, cannoing, ab-saling, rock climbing, base jumping, ski diving. More to be confirmed.

6: Character customisation is back but only in terms of clothing, body weight, etc. The player you start off which, much like CJ, can't be altered by race, age, height, etc.

7: Rockstar said burglary missions may return but only as part of missions and not on neigbourhood houses.

8: No children NPC at all. Ever.

9: There is now an ability to grab people and use as sheilds or in "hostage" situations.

10: The cops are much, much, much more realistic. If you kill somebody when you know there are no cops around you will not run the risk of a one star as often as you would in GTA4. The cops will use smoke and tear gas, dogs, riot gear and rams to knock down the doors of buildings you are hiding in.

11: You can enter some buildings and lock doors, push objects in the way to barricade.

12: You become better at things as the game progresses. If you only ride motorbikes then you will increase your skills, same as individual weapons.

13: Certain weapons can be customisable and some even home-made.

14: One mission involves breaking out a very familiar GTA icon from a previous game...

15: Torrential rain fall and sunshine and even tremors will appear in the game.

Thank feck the social side has gone.

Not sure what to make of the "took 15 minutes to go places" thing. Thats how they tried to show off SA originally and it was awful.

Ill wait and see, wont get hopes too high though.

The distance thing worries me, hopefully it's more a case of - smaller area but more packed in to it. No doubt it will be a good game though

I'll agree that the driving for miles aspect of SA was a bit dull after a while.... but driving from one side of the map in GTA4 to the other took around the same ammount of time and most of the time it was doable.

Depends how they approach it. If its too spread out itll be a pain, if its too small itll feel crushed :p monkey

They should have a look at Fallout 3 - it's map was smaller than in Oblivion, but everytime you travelled across it, you always found something of interest - whether it was a new mission or fortress to attack or explore, there was always something worth travelling across the map for. They need to do the same for GTA V, regardless of the size of it

I think they MIGHT go the same way as Red Dead/ Undead nightmare

Red Dead was PAINFULLY barren in parts - but they had perks that forced you off into these areas - hunting bears etc. They also had the campsite which meant you could set up camp and a point on your map to respawn to afterwards. However you had to travel to the destination first. Sorta like how the taxis worked in GTA4.... except its a campsite.

Undead nightmare waws largely the same, except it forced you off track and into areas of the map you wouldnt go to otherwise.... this time to kill some zombies in a town/ graveyard.

Either way like, something similar.

Whats bugging me about it is how familiar they're gunna make the missions. Granted the early GTA missions were fun because you hadn't stolen a car in 3d before.... its getting a lil old now. While they did change things up a bit in the DLC for GTA4 would be interesting to see what they come up with this time

Aye see what yez mean, map size doesnt equal fun.

Anyone recall True Crime?!

So many things wrong with that game, but the map was a big one - LA correct to the inch...but you could go the whole game never going near 80% of it.

Lol, True Crime. Wasn't that the game where you started off as a cop, arresting and shooting criminals etc and then at the end you fight a dragon/aliens or something?

Yeah it was done in chapters, each took around 3 hours to complete, and you could end the game in 3 different ways depending on how you played out on the streets - killing people, doing nothing, or arresting bad folk.

By chapter three you were up against a 300 year old crime lord from China who had a pet dragon you had to kill in an underground dungeon surrounded by fire, all the while there was fire-ghosts trying to headbutt you.

I wish that was a joke.

Speculation linking GTA V to a May 2012 release. A number of sites think it is this due a scene in the trailer where a man puts a house up for sale and the sign states "May 2012". However, Take Two refuse to commit to a 2012 release date so it's probably not true I'd reckon. Plus that would only be 6 months away which is a bit TOO close to release date for a game such as this

Not sure if i read this or what, but did the first trailer for GTA4 not come out around this time of year and it was released around May?

Would be awesome for the release to be so soon, sounds a bit toooooo good to be true tho
